Mistaken Identities
What is my purpose in life? Who am I? Where do I belong? These are questions all of us ask and these questions have something in common. At the root, each of these questions is seeking to discover our true identities. But sadly, many of us have accepted inferior answers and are living with mistaken identities. Maybe it’s believing we are defined by our past, perhaps by our successes or failures. For some it’s their job title, birth order or family heritage. Though many of these things are good, none of them are meant to be our ultimate source of identity. By themselves, they all function as mistaken identities. So then what is our true identity? That’s what we will uncover as we dive into the bible together and what we will find is that Jesus makes all the difference in the world. Jesus is the source of our true identities and it is greater than anything we could hope for or imagine.
